Bexley is core territory for us. Our office is at Onega House, 112 Main Road, Sidcup, DA14 6NE, a short drive from Bexley village, Old Bexley and the surrounding roads, so surveys, site visits and follow-up calls during the build are straightforward to arrange rather than something that has to be scheduled weeks out. We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Being close to the work matters more than it sounds. It means a survey can be booked quickly at the start, that the design conversation can happen face to face over the drawings, and that during construction the people responsible for your project are not managing it from the other side of London. It also means our brickwork, carpentry and roofing trades already know the local housing stock.

The housing here spans inter-war semis and detached houses, post-war estates, pockets of older cottages around Old Bexley and newer infill development. Each has its own quirks: solid or early cavity walls, original roof structures of varying quality, sub-floor ventilation that has often been blocked over the years, and extensions added in the 1970s and 80s that were built to a very different standard from today's regulations.

The requests we get most often in Bexley are a rear or side extension to open up a cramped kitchen, a loft conversion for a fourth bedroom, a knock-through to join two small reception rooms, and full refurbishment of a house that has just changed hands. Wraparound extensions come up regularly where a side return and a decent rear garden exist together.

Bexley's mix of 1930s semis, post-war housing and older cottages means no two extensions are detailed the same way. We survey each property before designing, then match brickwork and roof lines so new work reads as part of the original house.
