Wraparound and rearextensionsin Bexleyheath

Bexleyheath is a short drive from our office at Onega House, 112 Main Road, Sidcup, DA14 6NE, and it is one of the areas we work in most consistently. Surveys and site visits are arranged Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

The housing here is largely inter-war and post-war semi-detached and detached, with generous plots by London standards: a side return down one flank and enough rear garden depth to extend without swallowing the whole outside space. That combination is what makes wraparound extensions genuinely worthwhile here rather than merely possible.

Because the plots allow it, we also see more double-storey work in Bexleyheath than in the tighter terraced areas: a bedroom and bathroom above a new ground-floor room, which brings foundation depth, party wall matters and the tie-in to the existing roof into the design.

Common requests are wraparound and large rear extensions with roof lanterns and bi-folds, double-storey extensions, loft conversions with rear dormers, garden rooms and home offices at the end of longer gardens, and full refurbishment of houses that have not been touched since the 1980s.

We design wraparound extensions around light and flow, not just floor area: roof lanterns, glazing lines and the position of the kitchen island decide whether the finished space actually gets used.
